WordPress completely changed the user interface since the last time I was here, and now I can’t figure out how to do even the most basic things anymore. I have no idea if this is even going to end up as a post, or if it’ll just vanish into the internet aether.

The reason I showed up today was really just to congratulate myself on deciding to do a completely new Nanowrimo project this year – not only did I finish Nano, but I finished with a ton of new ideas and new directions. I’m actually kind of excited about this story? I mean, to the point that I’m writing a draft for real. I started Feb 1, basically from scratch (Nano was draft 0.0, and most of it was me working through the characters and worldbuilding), and I’m already over 14,000 words. That averages to 1000 words a day.

They’re not great words; I will have to do a ton of editing on the prose itself, not just the plot, but the thing to focus on is: I’m still excited about the story. As painful as these early chapters are (uuuuugh exposition and setup) – I’m still excited about the story. And that is something to hang on to.
